Summary

The purpose of this position is to support the National Manager, Safety Evaluation and Assessment by providing daily reporting of NHTSA Vehicle Owner Questionnaires (VOQ), to identify new Potential Safety Issues (PSI) and to provide VOQ data and trend analysis to support safety recall decision making. This position will also support requests by NHTSA for Defect Petitions, Preliminary Evaluations and investigations of specific VOQs.

Major Responsibilities

Priority Major Responsibility %
1st Provide daily reporting of new VOQs to North America Safety Office and KMA management and provide daily assessment of new VOQs that identifies total counts and increasing trends. Inform NM, Safety Evaluation & Assessment of all identified potential safety issues at the earliest point in time possible. 40%
2nd Develop sophisticated automated processes for evaluating VOQs and identifying trends. Create and maintain analytic dashboards and reports showing potential safety issue trends. Develop methodology to categorize VOQs and provide accurate estimates for each issue, as to Severity Level within the NHTSA Risk Matrix. 30%
3rd Provide data analysis support for NHTSA inquiries, investigations and Monthly NHTSA meeting preparation. Provide data analysis support for KMA legal in house and outside counsel and to support Kia vehicle recall decision making process. 20%
4th Coordinate with Product Quality Team to determine if new PSIs identified are reported by QIR and if the issue has already been counter measured.  10%

 

Education/Certification

  • BS degree in Engineering or Automotive Technology or equivalent work experience required.    

Overall Experience

  • 2-5 years experience in technical positions such as Product Quality or in an engineering environment.  

Directly Related Experience

  • Working knowledge of statistical analysis concepts and software.
  • Some automotive, aerospace or equivalent technical background.         

 

Other Requirements:

  • Schedule(s) may vary due to needs of the business including but not limited to working outside of normal business hours, travel, weekends and/or holidays.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.    

Skills

Basic knowledge of SAS programing language and Structured Query Language (SQL).
Basic knowledge of SAS Visual Analytics and Contextual Analytics
Basic knowledge of automotive systems and components.
Strong oral/written communication skills
Good analytical skills and attention to detail.
Basic knowledge of statistics and statistical software.
Basic knowledge of database structure and SQL query language.
Ability to work and communicate clearly with members of various KMNA/KMA Departments.
Must be familiar with Standard PC Software such as Word documents, Excel spreadsheets and PowerPoint Presentations.
