Summary

The purpose of this position is to lead efforts in timely collecting quarterly EWR TREAD reporting and initial data validation process. In addition, this position will be providing the means and processes that proactively perform analysis of TREAD data to provide the National Manager, TREAD & Recall Management, with early identification of potential outliers prior to NHTSA inquiries. 

This position will have a leading role in identifying, designing, developing, and testing the technology and software applications needed to perform these tasks, as technology changes and additional data sources become available. The individual will also continuously seek improvement of identifying outliers by enhancing the analysis methods, as well as to lead interactions with NASO’s Safety Analytics Manager. Lastly, this position will be responsible for tracking and processing reimbursement of campaign mailing expense from applicable factories.
 

Major Responsibilities

1st Priority - 30%

Responsible for Recall Campaign field communications by continuous coordination with the Government Affairs Manager and with multiple other departments within the company to determine parts availability, software availability, and status of TSB.  Review Parts & Service Manager Letter, Region Pre-Notification, TSB and responsible for posting to KDealer in a timely manner.

2nd Priority - 25%
Assist National Manager, TREAD & Recall Management by managing the collection efforts and evaluating the accuracy and adequacy of all KUS TREAD data from other departments on a quarterly basis. Once the TREAD early warning data is accurate and ready for final review and submission, provide a summary analysis to management for early detection efforts.  

3rd Priority - 25%
Responsible for utilizing NASO’s TREAD early warning reporting data analytics tool to proactively monitor trends and identify outliers based upon the logic NHTSA’s Trends Analysis Division (TAD) applies to auto manufacturers for identifying outliers. Once deviations are identified, must thoroughly investigate all potential contributing factors (e.g. Service Campaigns, Service Actions, TSBs, Warranty Extensions, etc.) which can cause any anomalies or quickly inform management for focused analysis with NASO engineers, PQ engineers, and KHQ.

4th Priority - 20%

Responsible for NASO department budget activities (e.g. prepare for annual budget planning, creation of PR, PO, for reimbursing NASO Team members, performing goods receipt, requesting for additional budget, transferring budget between accounts, reconciling department expenses on a monthly basis, prepare quarterly budget forecasting, etc.) Also responsible for tracking reimbursable expenses, generating necessary backup documentations for reimbursement, and generating invoices to bill Kia factories for reimbursement of eligible NASO expenses.

 

Education/Certification

  • BA/BS degree in Engineering, Automotive Technology, Data Analytics or equivalent combination of education and experience is required.

Overall Experience

  • 5-10 years of automotive industry experience with 4 to 8 years experience in Government Affairs, Regulatory Compliance, Recall Management, and/or experience with reviewing/validating/approving/analysis of NHTSA EWR (TREAD) data.  

Directly Related Experience

  • Experience with vehicle technical compliance issues (i.e., TREAD, Recall and Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards)
  • Experience with statistical data analysis concepts and analysis software   (e.g., Tableau, Microsoft Power BI, SAS, etc.)
  • Technical knowledge of various systems such as AS400, Siebel, PQMS, and SAP)

  • Schedule(s) may vary due to needs of the business including but not limited to working outside of normal business hours, travel, weekends and/or holidays.  
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
     

Skills

Automotive technical knowledge - body, chassis, power train, brakes, electrical, safety system.
Professional manner required to represent the company to government agencies as well as other companies.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Access, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
Strong oral and written communication & presentation skills
Working knowledge of statistical data analysis concepts and software.
