This position will be responsible for creating and implementing Belonging initiatives enterprise-wide that support inclusion and diversity. This will include assessment of current state, recommendations for future programs and practices, and ensuring implementation as Kia continues to grow. In addition, this position will interface with external community stakeholders in Southern California as well as nationally. The ideal candidate will be comfortable building, moving quickly, and is passionate about serving and connecting with people and communities. 


Reporting to and working closely with the Inclusion & Diversity Senior Manager, this role will be responsible for developing and executing a cohesive approach to aligning and integrating a range of new and existing initiatives, programs, events and offerings that foster an inclusive climate where all can thrive. You will collaborate closely with various stakeholders and members of the HR, Culture & Learning and Talent teams, and other leaders to advance efforts in culture, belonging, and inclusion. You will be a strategic advisor, part of a team as a culture builder, and a great partner across the enterprise. Your mission will be to further develop and foster an inclusive culture where everyone can bring their best to work.  
The role requires a forward-thinking self-starter with a proven record for working independently on projects, from conception to completion, and managing a wide variety of activities under tight deadlines. You will successfully handle a high volume of work by balancing priorities and managing expectations. 

This position will be responsible for bringing proven experience to push our thinking, share fresh, innovative ideas and elevate the quality of initiatives we deliver for our team members, and amplify current Inclusion & Belonging and community efforts. 

Located in the Human Resources, General Affairs, and Inclusion & Diversity Department, this position will reside under Inclusion & Diversity (I&D). Enterprise-wide, I&D leads various initiatives and efforts in the areas of inclusion, diversity, employee engagement, employee volunteering, supplier diversity, dealer diversity, corporate giving diversity, community engagement, and youth development.
 

Major Responsibilities

1st Inclusion & Belonging – Responsible for enterprise-wide efforts and Inclusion & Belonging initiatives, with an emphasis on Belonging. Regularly assess effectiveness of programs and initiatives. Track outcomes, collect, analyze, and share data and key findings. Collaborate to establish inclusivity excellence throughout enterprise and across teams. Collaborate to integrate Inclusion & Belonging (I&B) into employment, workplace, culture, and programs. Responsible for efforts that drive faster adoption of change, and support enterprise-wide initiatives acting as a strategic thinker, leader, and practical advisor and problem-solver. Drive innovation and change to further enhance Kia’s culture where team members feel valued, respected, and a sense of belonging. Collaborate with other departments as needed to help achieve their I&B objectives. 35%
2nd Community Engagement – Build solid relationships with diverse community organizations that serve and advance diverse communities, diverse businesses, and under-represented populations in Southern California and nationally. Serve as a spokesperson for Kia on matters of Inclusion & Belonging, educating stakeholders within and outside of Kia regarding strategies and actions that advance a thriving workplace. Attend virtually and in-person signature events, conferences, forums, tradeshows, and other meetings that support I&B. Collaborate to develop effective external and internal communications. Develop and maintain community partnerships including acting as a community liaison and brand ambassador, overseeing company participation in community events, and managing budget. 20%
3rd Youth Engagement – Establish new partnerships with local schools to create meaningful experiences for students. Establish new partnerships with local youth development organizations and non-profits. Coordinate with team members for delivery of presentations and/or exercises. Collaborate to develop effective external and internal communications. Manage community partnerships including acting as community liaison and brand ambassador, overseeing company participation in community events, and managing budget 15%
4th Employee Volunteer Program – Manage Volunteer Program, including evaluation and selection of partner organizations, evaluation and selection of appropriate projects, project management, and serving as company representative with partner organizations and other community members.  Oversee all internal and external communications concerning the Program.    10%
5th Project Management & Administration – Develop Ad hoc reports, briefing materials, documents, and presentations for senior leadership and other stakeholders to advance Inclusion & Belonging initiatives. Gather and track annual I&B data sets for both internal and external reporting. Track and monitor outcomes of new and existing initiatives and make recommendations on an on-going basis.  20%

 

Education/Certification

  • Bachelor’s degree with increasingly responsible work experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience in inclusion, diversity, equity, belonging, employee engagement, employee experience, learning and development, organizational development, change management, outreach, community engagement, and community relations.
  • Relevant certifications and/or training preferred.
     

Overall Experience

  • 8-10 years of overall experience in Inclusion & Belonging and/or Community Engagement.
  • Demonstrated experience in developing and leading strategic activities that advance belonging, inclusion, and diversity within a large organization.
  • Demonstrated ability to improve and enhance the overall employee experience, from initial career engagement, onboarding, training, and career advancement and employee retention.
  • Demonstrated ability to innovate to meet the needs of the organization; knows best practices and how to adapt them into company culture
  • Demonstrated ability to work strategically and collaboratively across all departments and functional areas while creating effective, adaptable, action-oriented strategies with strong attention to details. 
  • Demonstrated passion for people and growing organizational culture.
