Summary

The purpose of this position is to assist the Safety Analytics Manager in establishing and maintaining processes that collect and perform analysis of data to provide the Safety Office management with early identification of Potential Safety Issues (PSIs). These processes, including the platforms supporting them, are collectively known as Kia’s Safety Data Analytics Infrastructure (SDAI). 

This position will collect and compile Kia NA field data, TREAD reports, NHTSA VOQ, NHTSA investigation, recall, and news/forum/social media, and other public and proprietary data to be the core of the North America Safety Office (NASO) data analytics efforts. 

This individual will support the identification, design, development, and testing of technology and software applications needed to perform these tasks, as technology changes and additional data sources become available. The individual will also support the improvement of existing systems and analysis methods, as well as collaborate with IT affiliates and outside vendor teams that develop and maintain NASO data systems. This position will assist in maintaining procedures and communication links with all departments which are providing the source data for the Data Analysis Engineers, as well as sharing this data and analysis with stakeholders.

1st Develop and implement innovative solutions using closed and open-source software to optimize NASO’s data collection, analysis, and reporting efforts. 30
2nd Establish and maintain processes for Data Analysis Engineers to access, analyze, and report PSIs by providing powerful analytic, statistical, and programming tools, including collaboration with outside vendors. 25
3rd Work with IT and affiliates to develop systems to share and obtain data and analysis of PSIs. 25
4th Design, develop, and test automated processes to support data access and upload. Collaborate with IT and outside entities to obtain access to data. 20

 

Education/Certification

  • BS degree or equivalent work experience in Engineering, Statistics, Computer Science, or another quantitative field required. 

Overall Experience

  • 2 years of experience supporting durable goods engineering, quality, safety, or statistical analysis. 
  • 4 years of experience in manipulating data sets and building statistical models.    

Other Requirements:

  • Schedule(s) may vary due to needs of the business including but not limited to working outside of normal business hours, travel, weekends and/or holidays.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
     

Directly Related Experience

  • Experience with Python and SQL. Additionally, experience with SAS programming language is strongly desired. 
  • Experience working with and creating relational databases.
  • Experience with Text Mining and building taxonomy models using SAS Contextual Analytics and open-source solutions
  • Experience building visualizations and dashboards for stakeholders (e.g., using SAS Visual Analytics, Tableau, Power BI).
  • Experience supporting engineering, quality, safety, or statistical analysis. 
     

Skills

Excellent communication skills required (written and oral)
Proficiency in statistical analysis concepts and building statistical models.
Experience querying databases and using statistical computer languages: R, Python, SLQ, etc.
Must be familiar with Standard PC Software such as Word documents, Excel spreadsheets and PowerPoint Presentations.
Ability to work and communicate clearly with members of various KMNA/KMA Departments.
Good analytical skills and attention to detail.
