Summary

The purpose of this position is to provide the means and processes to collect and perform analysis of data sources to provide the National Manager, Safety Evaluation & Assessment with early identification of Potential Safety Issues (PSI). This position will make determinations as to which KMA field data, TREAD reports and NHTSA VOQ, Recall and Investigation data should be collected, compiled, analyzed, and reported. This individual will also determine the technology and software applications need to perform these tasks and to continuously seek improvement of the means and processes used, as technology changes and additional data sources become available. This position will be responsible for maintaining procedures and communication links with all departments which are providing the source data for the Data Analysis Engineer(s) as well as sharing this data and analysis with shareholders.

Major Responsibilities

1st Determine data sources necessary for early identification of PSIs and determining the means to access and update the information on a continuous basis. Develop automated processes to support data access and upload  30%
2nd Provide means and processes for Data Analysis Engineers to access analyze and report PSIs by providing powerful analytic and programing tools. 30%
3rd Develop and continuously improve predictive modeling for NHTSA Risk Matrix estimation. 20%
4th Develop and continuously improve predictive modeling for NHTSA Risk Matrix estimation. 20%

 

Education/Certification

  • BS degree in Engineering, Statistics, Computer Science or another quantitative field required. 

Overall Experience

  • 3-5 years experience with experience in manipulating data sets and building statistical models.    

 

Other Requirements:

  • Schedule(s) may vary due to needs of the business including but not limited to working outside of normal business hours, travel, weekends and/or holidays.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Directly Related Experience

  • Working knowledge of statistical analysis concept and building statistical models.
  • Experience with SAS programming and/or SQL query language
  • Experience working with and creating data architectures
  • Experience with Text Mining and building taxonomy models using SAS Contextual Analytics.
  • Experience building visualizations for stakeholders using SAS Visual Analytics
  • Some automotive, aerospace or equivalent technical background. 

Skills

Basic knowledge of automotive systems and components.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Good analytical skills and attention to detail.
Basic knowledge of statistics and statistical software.
Ability to work and communicate clearly with members of various KMNA/KMA Departments.
Advanced knowledge of standard PC software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
Experience querying databases and using statistical computer languages: R, Python, SLQ, etc.
