Summary

The purpose of this position is to support the National Manager, Safety Evaluation and Assessment by identifying at an early stage in a model’s life cycle, any Potential Safety Issues (PSI) through data searches and sophisticated trend analysis of KMA Consumer Affairs data and to provide data analysis to support safety recall decision making. This position will also support requests by NHTSA for Defect Petitions, Preliminary Evaluations and investigations of specific VOQs. This position will support KMA legal department for defense of Class Action suits and in house and outside counsel requests for Consumer Affairs data and analysis. 

Major Responsibilities

Priority Major Responsibility %
1st Provide frequent review of new Consumer Affairs cases for PSIs. Investigate new PSIs to determine current complaint counts and rates. Create and maintain analytic dashboards and reports showing potential safety issue trends using Consumer Affairs data. Inform NM, Safety Evaluation & Assessment of all Potential Safety Issues (PSIs) at the earliest point in time. 50%
2nd Provide data analysis support for NHTSA inquiries, investigations and Monthly NHTSA meeting preparation. Provide data analysis support for KMA legal in house and outside counsel 20%
3rd Coordinate with Technical Analysis staff and Consumer Affairs Leadership on PSIs, including recommendations on customer handling of PSI related complaints.   20%
4th Develop sophisticated automated processes for evaluating data and identifying PSIs by utilizing new technologies and analytic tools.   10%

 

Education/Certification

  • BS degree in Engineering or Automotive Technology or equivalent work experience required.

Overall Experience

  • 2-5 years experience in technical positions such as Product Quality or in an engineering environment.  

Directly Related Experience

  • Working knowledge of statistical analysis concepts and software.
  • Some automotive, aerospace or equivalent technical background.

  • Schedule(s) may vary due to needs of the business including but not limited to working outside of normal business hours, travel, weekends and/or holidays.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
     

Skills

Basic knowledge of SAS programing language and Structured Query Language (SQL).
Basic knowledge of SAS Visual Analytics and Contextual Analytics
Basic knowledge of automotive systems and components.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Good analytical skills and attention to detail.
Basic knowledge of statistics and statistical software.
Ability to work and communicate clearly with members of various KMNA/KMA Departments.
Advanced knowledge of standard PC software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
