 Under the direction of the Sr. Service Technical Training Manager, the Technical Training Program Manager delivers technical training to Kia dealership technicians to improve their vehicle repair skills and Fixed Right the First Time performance as well as build and support Kia’s technician recruitment programs.

The Technical Training Program Manager balances a dual role of instructor responsibilities with the development and management of technician recruiting and retention programs, including assisting with the Kia Veterans Technician Apprenticeship Program (VTAP), establishing and managing partnerships with vocational and/or post-secondary automotive technology programs, and partnering with industry organizations to help increase Kia’s visibility as a Tier 1 brand to help dealers attract and retain qualified technicians.

Overall program manager responsibilities include, but are not limited to, annual budgeting and business planning; securing program vehicles, tools, equipment, training materials, and service information; and collaborating with corporate and regional management and the technical training development and delivery teams to achieve technician recruitment and retention goals.

Major Responsibilities

1st Priority - 50%   

Prepare for and facilitate performance-based technical training courses.

Deliver training to Kia dealership technicians to department standards of professionalism, quality, technical accuracy, and relevancy to transfer knowledge and skills to the job and support Fixed Right the First Time repairs.

Ensure course scheduling and availability meet the needs of Kia and its dealers.

Maintain instructional resources including training vehicles, tools, equipment, and materials.

Administer participant enrollment processes and course completion records.

2nd Priority - 50%

Develop and manage technician recruiting and retention programs, including establishing and managing partnerships with vocational and/or post-secondary automotive technology programs. Promote diversity, equality, and inclusion in technician recruiting. Explore opportunities to provide post-secondary automotive technology scholarships to underserved communities.

Assist with managing the Kia Veterans Technician Apprenticeship Program (VTAP).

Support high school automotive technology skill competitions and support the biennial Kia National and World Cup Technician Skill Competition and other programs that support and/or develop Kia technician competencies.

Communicate best practices and develop tools to help dealers recruit and retain technicians.

Manage Kia’s Technical Training Equivalency and Technical Course Challenge Programs.

Perform technician recruiting and retention industry benchmarking.

Support Service Operations with technician engagement and recognition programs.



  • Four-year technical degree or comparative experience with emphasis on automotive technology vocational training and/or education.

  • Current ASE Certified Master Automobile Technician certification (A1-A8); Advanced Engine Performance Specialist Certification (L1), Light Duty Hybrid/Electric Vehicle Specialist Certification (L3), and Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) (L4) preferred.

Overall Experience

  • 5+ years’ experience facilitating automotive hands-on, performance-based training at the college, adult education or manufacturer/distributor level.

  • 5+ years’ experience managing an OEM automotive technician training/career entry program (PACT, T-TEN, ASSET, ASEP, MCAP, etc.)

  • Working knowledge of dealership service operations and/or direct experience preferred.

Directly Related Experience

  • Experience working in an automotive manufacturer/distributor and/or dealership environment.

Position Requirements:

  • Occasional travel may be required domestically and/or internationally.
  • May need to work additional hours outside of normal business hours as required by the job, including weekends or holidays.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing with all levels inside and outside the organization, from dealership technicians to regional and corporate management.
Strong communication and training facilitation skills utilizing effective adult learning techniques and performance-based methodologies.
Review repair information, vehicle systems, components, and diagnostic strategies to develop Kia product and technical expertise and stay up to date on new technologies.
Effectively manage multiple projects in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
Proficient in MS Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook. Experience with distance learning platforms.

Pay Range

$81,120.00 - $109,507.00 

Pay will be based on several variables that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to, job-related skills, experience, relevant education or training, etc.
