Summary

The Data Privacy Director develops, implements, and oversees a data privacy strategy across all Kia North America affiliates, ensuring compliance with applicable regulations. This role drives decision-making related to data privacy for multiple organizations and collaborates closely with the Legal team to resolve privacy issues and update corporate policies and procedures.

This position will lead risk assessments, implement internal controls, and foster data protection awareness through training. This role will collaborate with IT, Information Security, and Legal teams to integrate privacy practices and oversee data privacy incident response to ensure proper remediation. The Director will take a hands-on approach within this small team while designing processes and policies that align with the needs of multiple organizations and can be scaled effectively as additional resources become available.

Leadership & Strategy

Develop and execute a comprehensive data privacy strategy aligned with organizational goals.
As the executive lead for Data Privacy Strategy, the Director will serve as the primary liaison for privacy matters and overseeing related teams across Kia North America affiliates to ensure compliance and risk mitigation.

The Associate Counsel is responsible for providing in-house legal advice and services relating to vehicle warranty (lemon law) claims and for advising and collaborating with the company’s consumer affairs team to provide the best possible ownership experience for Kia customers. The Associate Counsel will assist senior attorneys to handle certain product liability matters and will assist with related regulatory matters and legislative initiatives when necessary. The Service Engineering group works as part of the Kia North America Ownership Experience - Product Quality team to represent the voice of the North American customer in identification of vehicle quality concerns and development of countermeasures for Kia America’s vast dealership network. This team collaborates with various engineering groups in North America and/or Korea to turn this goal into reality.

Since the Service Engineer has strong influence over customer perception of Kia vehicle quality, competence and mastery of existing vehicle systems is necessary. This role will be heavily relied upon as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for Kia vehicles in the U.S. market and lead emerging issues investigations. Summary

A key participant in dealer Business Management systems and reporting, the Analyst is responsible to assist with and monitor dealer financial and performance analysis. This begins with the Dealer’s submission and accuracy of monthly financial statements, along with accurate dealer database information. The Analyst’s duties will include significant financial statement analysis, relevant data analytics, system audits, and dealer reporting to ensure compliance of the Accounting Manual and Kia operating standards. The Analyst will prepare monthly reports, executive presentations, ad hoc analysis, and independent industry research. The analyst will communicate with dealers on financial statement related items, operational compliance and overall performance. The Analyst will assist with Retail Development Department monthly cycle of accounting, billing, requisition and the annual dealer business plan submissions. Support Dealers (Controllers/Business Managers) to submit accurate and on time monthly financial statements, which will in turn lead to database maintenance, KPI tracking, and monitoring dealer compliance to agreements and operating guidelines. Analyst will pro-actively call on dealers, to solicit outstanding financial statements, correct deficient reporting and advise on the Accounting Manual. Will require knowledge of the Business Management System, GAAP and the main functions of the dealership accounting reporting and close process.

Work across the department and cross departmentally to ensure accurate and current dealer records. Assist management to improve the accuracy of financial reporting by employing simple account audits and review system validations . Track and monitor specific dealer’s or dealer group’s performance and provide recommendations. Assist with the creation, implementation and facilitation of a sales training curriculum to improve overall knowledge and performance of KUS Field Manager and supporting Regional staff.

Education/Certification

Summary

The Litigation Paralegal will be primarily responsible for supporting in-house attorneys in their management of litigation and will process, review and respond to consumer and commercial litigation and complaints involving Kia America. Key responsibilities include intake, tracking, reporting, investigation and analysis of litigation and pre-litigation matters; preparation of responses to and negotiation with adverse parties; coordinating with in-house and outside counsel and preparing discovery; management of subpoenas and records requests; communication of legal requests and issues to business units; and other duties as assigned. Ability to adjust to changing circumstances and willingness to cross-train into different litigation practice areas within the Legal Department preferred.

Major Responsibilities

1st Priority - 40%

Investigating facts, coordinating collection of discovery materials, conducting research and developing legal arguments

2nd Priority - 30%

Collecting, organizing and archiving pleadings and documents related to pending and completed cases

3rd Priority - 15%

Summarizing cases and providing reporting to the legal dept. and executives

4th Priority - 10%

Review and revise draft discovery responses

5th Priority - 5%

Other projects within the legal department as needed.

Education/Certification

5-8 years top tier law firm and/or in-house experience

Prior experience with single plaintiff and class action litigation
Prior experience with automotive litigation helpful
