Summary

Income tax manager will be responsible for (1) monthly income tax provision calculation, (2) income tax compliance, (3) income tax audits, (4) withholding on foreign payments, and (5) income tax automation processes.  This position will also assist with preparation of data in connection with APA processes.  . 

Major Responsibilities

Priority 1st - 30%

Income tax provision

  • Prepare/review monthly tax provision under IFRS without much supervision.
  • At the year-end, calculate both IFRS and US GAAP income tax provisions.  Also, prepare consolidated tax footnote and calculate tax elimination under US GAAP.
  • Organize tax provision memos relating to uncertain tax positions/sales forecast/valuation allowance.
  • Prepare information requested by audit firm.
  • Prepare stand-alone tax footnote for consolidation under IFRS.

Priority 2nd - 30%

Income tax compliance

  • Detail review of income tax returns and related workpapers.
  • Detail review of quarterly estimated tax and extension calculation.
  • Be sure payments are processed in a good timely manner.
  • Prepare summary tax reports requested by parent company.
  • Monitor Tax Reform changes.
  • Perform tax research on various issues.
  • Handle EV certification and quarterly sales report.
  • Calculate in-patriate withholding taxes.

Priority 3rd - 15%

Income tax audits

  • Prepare responses to IDRs from the IRS and state jurisdictions.
  • Prepare final audit result summary.
  • Prepare protest letters and attend informal hearings.
  • Handle all income tax notices.

Priority 4th - 10%

Withholding on foreign payments

  • Review Form 1042, 1042-S, and 1042-T.
  • Review of W-8 forms received from foreign vendors.
  • Determine US source vs. non-US source income by communicating with business units.
  • Supervise withholding tax payment processing.

Priority 5th - 10%

Income tax automation

  • Review current workflow of income tax calculation and propose potential automation processes if needed.
  • For ongoing automation projects, clearly communicate with IT function to make sure tax business requirements are properly reflected in newly developed systems.

Priority 6th - 5%

APA

  • Assist with preparation of data in connection with APA process.

 

Education/Certification

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field of study or equivalent work experience required

Overall Experience

  • Understanding of general accounting and income tax laws
  • Automotive industry experience preferred
  • Previous income tax manager experience preferred

Directly Related Experience

  • Minimum 7 years’ work experience in large corporation or Big 4 public accounting firm required.
  • Minimum 7 years of income tax provision and income tax return preparation/review experience required.

Skills

High level of proficiency in tax return preparation software (OneSource) required.

High level of proficiency in tax research on CCH, RIA, and BNA required.

Intermediate level of proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word required to create workpapers, schedules, and reports from original source documents.

Experience with SAP

Strong analytical skills and ability to read tax statutes of various tax jurisdictions.
